Hello Everyone:

First of all, I want to thank those who attended our TRTR meeting on 6/11
and/or the Joint Powers meeting on 6/13. I am encouraged by the increased
participation and the willingness to work together toward developing a
transportation plan for our community.

We will continue to work on getting input from as many folks in the
community as possible so everyone gains in the long run. Citizens
initiatives are still being considered, however the next step in the
anticipated long process is getting the county and town to own the issue and
to recognize the importance of developing a transportation plan.

I am pleased to report that our presence at the Joint Powers meeting on 6/13
was well received by the Town Councilors and the County Commissioners. I did
a brief presentation which basically stated that you can¹t have a
comprehensive Master Plan without a Transportation Plan. I asked for a work
study session to be scheduled‹in the evening‹for the community to both learn
what the current plans are for transportation and to offer input.

There was unanimous support for our request and a work study session will be
scheduled for later this summer. It was suggested that the Town and County
meet with TRTR prior to the work study session to discuss current issues and
needs regarding planning for transportation in the region. I am cautiously
optimistic that the time may have come where the Town and County might be
able to work toward building a constructive and cooperative working
relationship that not only gets things done but increases communication and
trust with all Taosenos!

TRTR also has the goal to help create a transparent process by which issues
are discussed and decisions are made with regard to Growth Management and
developing a vision for our future. Yes, there have been numerous studies
offering guidance as well as excellent ways to address all of these very
complex issues. Now is the time to get to work and implement some of these
ideas.

The Town and County are listening.... Do you have something to say or offer
to help build our future?

TRTR will meet July 9th at 7pm at Cultural Energy Radio Station (on
Blueberry Hill Road).

I will keep you posted on what transpires at our meetings with the Town and
County. Also, on June 18th at 6:30 at the Town Council Chambers Darren
Cordova and Rudi Abeyta will hold the second Public Forum and you have a
chance to speak and to listen to what other fellow Taosenos are discussing.

Together we can make a difference...one step at a time.
