[TRTR] TRTR meeting 8/6

Hello Everyone:
TRTR is having our next meeting on August 6th at 7pm at Cultural Energy
Radio Station (on Blueberry Hill Road).

TRTR has been actively involved in the past month attending meetings that
involve roads and master transportation planning for Taos County. It is
clear to me that the focus of most Town and County staffers and more than
likely the governmental officials is to look at improving or building new
roads. Sound familiar??? This is why it will be imperative that TRTR
continue to be present and be the voice that looks at the larger/regional
picture.

Please plan to attend this very important meeting where our three committees
will come together and strategize about how to have the most meaningful
impact on the development of a Regional Master Transportation Plan. Also,
this Fall there are several meeting/workshops scheduled that include
transportation as part of the planning for the region. I am getting more
information about these various workshops and will elaborate on them at our
meeting on August 6th.

While we have some members of our group showing a special interest in one or
more of our committees we need more folks. The three committees are as
follows:

         Roads (addressing congestion relief, repairing, maintaining, and
improving our roads with the Smart Growth Study
        as a model and Guide)
        Bike, Trails, Shoulders and Sidewalks
        Public Transportation and ADA compliance

I believe this is a very critical time in our community and I urge each of
you to get involved and let your ideas and voice be heard. During this
coming year many decisions about the future of our region will be made. We
have the opportunity to be part of  developing the vision and helping the
elected officials think and act in the best interests of all the community
not just special interests groups/individuals!!
