You have to apply to the Commissariat of Pothole Deployment over there off
Dea Lane to understand our road situation. Our Director of Potholes,
Impedimento "Rico" Tornillo, has the unenviable job of deciding where the
potholes are to be placed, and how often they are to be moved; he also
oversees the pothole storage facility near his offices, a facility plagued
by security concerns in that potholes, being, after all, holes of a sort,
are difficult to see and therefore to keep track of.

So hey, don't be complaining about pothole deployment in Taos, dammit. As
ever, our Town Council is doing the best it can while maintaining the high
standards of secrecy that permit smooth operation.

Cheers,

John McL.

I have taken these over the past 2 days as poeple have commented on the
fact that the roads are deteriorating between morning and afternoon. So
far the repairs have been putting "hot mix" - basically chunky tar into
these bowling ball sized holes while heating up the road and tar mix with
a propane torch. Then the water freezes and thaws and big trucks speed
over the ever widening holes.

Also note that I have not yet included the Plaza intersection or the Plaza
itself which continue to be horrendous.

Great fun!

Please note that the first picture is in front of the condos that Pavel
Lukes master minded on Kit Carson Rd opposite Dolan St. The morass of
water has been there since those condos were built and have been a source
of mud and now deteriorated road ever since.

I wonder if the candidates for Town Council have solutions to the road
problem. There IS one, I just wonder what their solutions might be.

As an aside, there is a Dark Skies Ordinance in effect here and Pavel
Lukes has lights around his office building (near the Taos News) that
shoot straight up at the building. Nice going, Pavel.
