Subject: Taos Theater:
Good morning, Renee.
Last night friends of mine and I went to see the Bourne movie at the
Storyteller. This was my firt movie outing in several months and we were
looking foward to a pleasant movie experience.
Not to happen!
We found our seats and lo and behold, imagine our chagrin at the mess of
popcorn bags (still full), the soda cups and candy wrappers at our feet.
We thought we were sitting in seats that were already taken, but no, the
lady next to us stated that the seats were not taken and yes, she had
mentioned to the management that the theater was disgustingly filthy.
My friend Monica also alerted someone in the lobby that the place had not
been cleaned between shows and the reply was: "Yes, ma'am, we will take care of that
right away."
Not to happen. We sat there with our feet sticking to the floor and the
slime and goo was disgusting. Why didn't we simply walk out and get a
pass to another movie? We wanted to see the movie, for one, and yes, we
actually tought that someone WAS going to come and clear out the full bags
of now slimy, gooey, slop popcorn. Ah, the naivete.
When the movie was over we chatted with the couple next to us about the
state of the theater and then left. The trash can by the exit/entrance
door was overflowing and we were careful not to touch anything on the way out.
As we passed the concession stand the one worker visible was dumping the
left over popcorn into a large garbage bag and spraying the inside of the
popper with some spray cleaner and wiping it down.
I did note that the large bag of unsold popcorn was potential profit, but
that also the popcorn that had been purchased and left in the theater was
uneaten. Bad product?
If you had kids you wouldn't allow them in that theater. I know that I
won't let my kids and grandkids go in there. Nor will I return until I
see or hear about improvements. If I do go, I will bring surgical gloves
(yes, it IS that filthy) and check the theater out prior to purchasing a
ticket.
The parking lot was a treat as well. In one parking spot was a pile of
windshield glass, and the entire lot was looking unswept and filthy as
well.
The place is a slum.
